Check the part itself -
However, not all numbers on parts are part numbers -
MACHINE NUMBERS
If you’re having no luck with part numbers, check the machine and the engine for Serial, Model, Type and Code Numbers.
If, however, you can’t narrow down the machine, you can still get the part.
WHERE TO LOOK ON THE ENGINE
If it’s an engine part you’re looking for and need to look for the engine’s numbers, here’s where there best places to look are:
A sticker on the top of the engine.
The metal part above the spark plug lead.
On the safety guard around the exhaust.
Stamped into the engine casing itself (either on the back -
WHERE TO LOOK ON THE DECK
If it’s a machine part you’re looking for, here are the best places to look:
On the side of the machine, near the rear wheels.
On the top of the chassis (facing the sky), at the rear, near the grass flap.
Under the grass flap, on the backside of the machine.
